Art Centres Aboriginal Artists
Art Centres play a vital role in remote communities acting as a resourceful structure for creative activity, supporting maintenance of culture and providing a matrix of management. Aboriginal owned and controlled, artists employ managers to ensure support for ethical marketing and sales of artwork amongst other things. Arranging National and International exhibition programmes, documentation, archiving, medical care, purchasing of vehicles and airplane tickets are but a few of the other daily activities
There are now more than 70 Art Centres located across north and north west Australia. Didgeri Air Art Tours and Palya Art has worked with 23 or so for the last twenty years and would like to support more - if only time and logistics allowed. It’s good to see more Air Art Tours taking place in support of Art Centres - more the merrier where and when community etiquette is observed.
Lists of all Desart and ANKAAA member Art Centres can be found on their websites.
